3-4 hours to encode three 700mb movies for dvd sounds fairly reasonable. It usually takes me about one and half hours to encode a 700mb avi file for dvd. I usually use the AVS video converter or the Any Video Converter. Either program will take about the same amount of time.

I use Nero and it takes me about an hour and a half to make a dvd file out of a 700MB avi or Divx. Other file types of that size might take a little less time because the DVD file would not come out as large as one one made from an avi. That's how it works with my equipment anyway.
